Watch
How lost money finds its way home.
Where it comes from
Businesses and families leave money behind every year.
When a company can’t deliver money it owes you, it must eventually turn it over to the State. The State holds it until the owner claims it, with no deadline.
Uncashed checks
Sent to an old address or to someone who left the company.
Credits and overpayments
Balances a supplier or customer never refunded.
Utility and rental deposits
Never returned after a move or a closed account.
Insurance refunds
Premium refunds and claim payments that never arrived.
Stock and dividends
Shares, dividends and bond payments in forgotten accounts.
Escrow and payroll balances
Money left over after a home sale, a loan payoff or a final paycheck.
How it works
Four simple steps. We do the hard parts.
We find it
Our search software, The Lost Fund Finder, checks public unclaimed-property records every week for businesses and families in our area.
We show you
You get a written summary: how much is held, who reported it, and the property numbers, before you decide anything.
We do the work
We gather the paperwork, fill out and file the claim, and handle every follow-up with the State.
You get paid
The State pays you directly and pays our agreed fee separately, out of the amount recovered. You never pay us out of pocket.
By law: California’s State Controller must review each claim within 180 days after it is filed.
Is this legal?
Yes. It’s legal, regulated and in writing.
California law lets private companies help owners recover money the State is holding for them. Code of Civil Procedure §1582 sets the rules, and we follow every one.
- Our fee is never more than 10% of what you actually receive.
- No upfront fees. If the State pays you nothing, you owe us nothing.
- We use the State’s own standard agreement. It shows the property, its value, and that the State is holding it, before you sign.
- We never ask for bank details or a Social Security number before you sign.
Why people hire us
Claiming it yourself sounds simple. It rarely is.
The State holds the money, but it won’t do the work for you. Getting it back means searching, proving and following up, often for months.
Find every listing
Every spelling of every name, old business names and past addresses, in California and in every other state you’ve lived or done business in.
Prove it’s yours
Records that tie you to an address from years ago: old statements, bills or tax papers, or the paperwork for a stock account you forgot you had.
Prove who can sign
For a business: officers, resolutions and the paper trail through name changes or a sale. For an estate: death certificates, wills and proof of every heir.
Fill out and file
A claim for each property, copies of everything, and a notary when the claim is $10,000 or more or includes stock.
Answer the State
If anything is missing or unclear, the State writes back asking for more before it will pay.
Wait and keep after it
The State has up to 180 days to review a filed claim. Someone has to track it to the end.

Questions
What people ask us first.
How do I know you’re legitimate?
We work under California’s rules for recovery companies, Code of Civil Procedure §1582. We charge nothing up front, our fee is capped at 10% by law and written into the State’s standard agreement before you sign, and the State pays you directly. We’re a private company, and we say so in writing.
Why haven’t I heard about this money?
The company that owed you usually tried an old address or a contact who had moved on. After a few years with no answer, it had to send the money to the State. The State lists owner names, but most people never think to look.
Why not claim it myself?
You can, at no cost. Most people find it takes far more time than they expect: searching every name and state, finding years-old records to prove ownership, showing who can sign, getting a notary, and answering the State’s follow-up letters. We do all of it, and we’re paid only if you are.
What does it cost?
Nothing up front. Our fee is a percentage of what you receive, never more than 10%, and it’s written into the agreement before you sign.
How long does it take?
We prepare your claim as soon as we have your documents. California law requires the State Controller to review each claim within 180 days after it is filed.
What do you need from me?
Usually a signed agreement, your photo ID, and something that ties you to the address on record. A notary witnesses your signature when the cash is $10,000 or more, or when the claim includes stock or a safe deposit box, and we arrange it. We never ask for bank details or a Social Security number before you sign.
How do you find it?
Our search software reviews public unclaimed-property records and matches them to businesses and people in our area. It flags the largest amounts so we can reach those owners first.
